Phaeton™

The Phaeton™ is DJH Designs’ offline film thickness profile measurement system, built to be the fastest, most accurate lab-quality instrument of its kind. It completes a full-width profile of a 1000mm sample in around five seconds, taking up to 1000 individual measurements in that time to build a complete, non-destructive picture of coating thickness across the entire width of the strip — not just a handful of spot checks.

Because it scans the full sample rather than sampling a few points, the Phaeton catches coater faults that spot measurements miss entirely — imbalance, roll shape issues, and localized defects show up clearly in the profile. It measures coating thickness from 3.5μm to 220μm, including textured and wrinkle finishes with peak-to-valley characterization, requires no calibration across coatings, colors, or substrates, and can flip the sample over for a backside reading in another five seconds. An optional Colour Scan module adds simultaneous color measurement to the same single-button scan.
